My Grandmothers Words My grandmother came to me in a dream with words she told me as a child. I thought I would share this with all of you. "She said," One day you will be around many people of all tribes. You must remember that not all Indians were raised with there roots. I tell you this because I know you will help them. They may judge you and anger may fall from ther tongues because you are what they want to become. If you anger, you must find in your heart to forgive and find a way to help them back on their paths. Always remember, a good warrior will lead his/her people and the ones that don't belong will fall behind. If their hearts are true you will know. Lead them "The Ind'n way" She placed a talisman on my neck before she died and told to go to the old ones. Their I will find my answers.
The Past Is The Past? The past is the past and should be put at rest so I have heard so many times. We need to live for now and forget about the past. NEVER!~ The war has never ended for my people. The government still controls us and tells us what we can do, can't do, where to live etc. They still torture and kill our people. Our children are still in boarding schools. NEVER will I forget. Those people were my people that died. It was their breaths that breathed into our Grandparents and our Parents that gave us life. THEY WERE MY BLOOD! When I think about the Apache Trail Of Tears and The Cherokee Trail of Tears and what happened to the Sioux my heart is so heavy and hard as stone. (Not to mention many others)I get so angry sometimes my tears wont come. I only feel anxiety and pain for my people. I hear the cries of my ancestors and see their faces full of pain and fear. I want so badly to avenge them. Why? How can someone we called Brothers do this to innocent people? I am sorry but I cannot say that these people that tortured, raped, murdered and scarred my people are my white brothers. I cannot forgive the ones that did this, or the ones who agree to this. Do they really believe we are like animals to be hunted? Well if it is an animal that they believe we are, then I stand proud and say an animal I am. The animals are far better than these people. The animals love unconditionally and hunt only for their food and proect their kin just as I. I shall stand tall in the midst of my people. I will stand in front of them.
