Words From Black Eagle
Sacred Colors
RED: Is for the East where the sun comes up and with it new knowledge for a new day.
YELLOW: For the south which will bring the warming south winds that will cause our Mother Earth to bring forth the good foods and grasses so that we may live.
BLACK: To the west where the sun goes down. The day will end and we will sleep and we will also hold our spirit ceremonies at night, from where we will communicate with the spirit world beyond.
WHITE is from the North. Winter snow will cleanse Mother Earth and put he to sleep so that she may rest and store up energy to provide the beauty and bounty of springtime.
The four colors also stand for the four races of man. We were created all races as brother and sister because we have the same mother-Mother Earth.

We are Mother Earth's Children
Today many of us are still fighting to save our people, our land, and our way of life. The Cheyennes go to your court to stop the strip mining of their land. Mohawks at Ganienkeh are defending a small area from those who do not let them raise their children in peace. At Pine Ridge, traditional people struggle to protect their families from violence by those who would destroy their natural rights. Others have taken quiet steps back to the old ways of life and fredom. Each believes they must remember the children who are yet not born-to create a good life for them.
We are proud that many of our people have decided to return to the way of life given to their grandfathers, for it is a good way of life. We are trying to regain freedom by again taking care of each other, raising our own food and learning how to survive with the gifts of the land. We are again seeking to educate our own children.
REMEMBER: We are all children of Mother Earth. Let's work together as one tribe NOT many.
